Here’s a bit of good news for Atlanta’s job market… Facebook may be coming to save the day!
Word on the curb is that the world’s most popular social networking site is planning to open an office in the Atlanta area soon!!!
The news leaked out after Facebook secured an Atlanta building permit to renovate a midtown Atlanta office building.
Already pegged as one of the “fastest-growing offices in the East Region” and a “fantastic region” for the company on its website, Atlanta will soon be home to a new 5,045-square-office in west Midtown, according to a building permit filed with the City of Atlanta.
Facebook will renovate and build out of Suite 137 at 1000 Marietta Street, a modern, warehouse-style complex currently occupied by 5 Seasons Restaurant and Brewery, Corporate Community Outsourcing and Sandler Hudson Gallery, among other tenants.
The style of the Atlanta building is an appropriate fit for Facebook, whose main office in Palo Alto, Calif. sports a colorful warehouse design with exposed pipes and IKEA-friendly furniture.? READ MORE
Facebook officials have not confirmed (or denied) news of the new offices, but that building permit speaks volumes. If not a “Facebook” office, perhaps Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to launch his answer to Google +’s new ‘facebook like’ services.
In case you didn’t know, Google already has an Atlanta office so it looks like this is the place to be. I wonder who’s next?
I dunno why, but I’m excited as hell about a Facebook office in my city. Maybe I’ll get to personally write on Facebook’s wall one day…
