A blonde mohawked Erykah Badu hit Atlanta last weekend as the headlining act at Atlanta’s Chastain Park Amphitheatre but somebody needs to tell her next time “Don’t be Tardy for the Party!”
Now most ATLiens are quite aware of Chastain Park and the time restraints on any musical performances in the park. It doesn’t matter if the main act shows up at 10:59pm… those mics are SHUT DOWN at 11pm due to noise ordinances that are in place.
Chastain is smack dabb in the center of a residential area so it’s understandable but artists should be a bit more courteous to their fans.? If they show up late, it’s a wrap!

Erykah… the diva that we all know and love, was late as hell Saturday evening and her opening act had finished nearly an hour before Badu’s band began without her. Badu was nowhere to be seen or heard by 9 p.m…. She eventually hit the stage at about an hour later, which gave her a little under an hour to perform.
Erykah did manage to sing a few bars before the lights went down.

Needless to say, Erykah’s mini performance was great but just as she was about to get her groove on and kick it into high gear, the mics were abruptly? SHUT OFF!? A startled Badu started checking the mic, before realizing it was a wrap… she’d been cut off for the night.
It was approximately 11:01 p.m as Badu took her final bow and exited the stage to angry fans who boo’d as she left.

I’m almost positive Erykah knew the deal about Chastain. I mean… at this point who DOESN’T?
Erykah has been known to extend her concerts well beyond their endtime but this time she didn’t even give her audience what the paid for. Not only was it rude to keep them waiting for almost an hour when they shelled out good dough in a hard economy to see her perform, but it was disrespectful and just plain dumb.
Erykah hasn’t spoken on the issue and probably won’t since she’s got her check and gone about her business, but the fact remains…. Atlanta was shortchanged and are pissed off!
