Chris Brown totally nailed the Michael Jackson Tribute during the 2010 BET Awards and got a bit emotional during his “Man in the Mirror Segment. [CLICK HERE if you missed it]
Most felt that C-Breezy had finally “Got it”… he realized he has to make a change, just like the song implies, and begin anew while starting with the “Man in the Mirror.”
It was a PR’s dream come true whatever the case. However, Lloyd has thrown a monkey wrench in the ring after making a statement that the “cry” was all his idea!

I told him, man, you gotta go up there, you gotta cry. You gotta really show your heart to the world, and they?ll understand. I think time heals all wounds.
I think Lloyd wasn’t the only person to advise Chris to shed a few tears…just the only one dumb enough to admit it on camera! Almost everyone knew Chris had to make a dramatic impact during is performance, and while his dancing spoke volumes, the tears are what made people a bit more sympathetic.
Lloyd has gone on record through his blog to clarify his comment:
“I consider Chris a friend. He’s been through a lot in the past couple years. I never told him to go on stage and cry. We spoke recently, and I told him as a friend that people hadn’t really seen him be vulnerable about his situation last year [with Rihanna].
I thought he was holding back and needed to let that emotion out. Him crying at the BET Awards was real, I could feel it,? said Lloyd.
?I think he cried about a number of things. About the fact that he thought people would hate him forever because of one mistake. Feeling that love on stage was probably overwhelming. Plus MJ being gone and him performing “Man in the Mirror”, that song is powerful, especially for his situation. It pushed him over the edge.?
Responding to the many blogs and fans that took Lloyd’s comments as a negative statement against Chris Brown, Lloyd offered this response,
?To say that he was faking or that I’m hating on him, that’s some bull shit. Last week Essence.com asked me what artist most embodied MJ. I told them it was Chris. I never saw MJ perform live, but he [Chris Brown] is the closest thing I’ve witnessed. Chris is back, and I’m just as excited as his fans are. It’s just frustrating that people want to make everything negative.?
Lloyd just got his name back in the game by stepping on the back of his “friend”.? With friends like that who needs enemies…
