My boo Twan…aka Big Boi has made some major moves recently. From Jive to Def Jam but always…. “Straight From The A!”? I wish him nothing but the best!
On the phone Thursday night from a recording studio in Atlanta, Big Boi of Southern hip-hop legends OutKast confirmed that he will be leaving Jive and signing to Def Jam, who will be releasing his long-delayed solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. ?The lawyers just have to finish their lawyering,? Big explained, and added that he was happy to be working with LaFace co-founder and current Island Def Jam Chairman and CEO LA Reid again, since ?he?s been with us since the beginning.? As Big put it, ?I just gave you the scoop of the century, man.
Purple Ribbon Entertainment will still be distributed by Virgin Records but his upcoming solo project, tentatively titled Sir Luschious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty, will be a Def Jam release.? It’s still unknown as to if Andre 3000 will follow suit and leave Jive, and Big Boi has always mantained that Outkast is still intact. It’s my understanding that both after he and Dre’s solo projects are complete, the Outkast project begins. But I guess we’ll just have to take his word for it and wait and see.
