The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s 13th season is chugging right along despite it’s lackluster ratings.

This week’s episode is entitled, “New Peach in The Orchid” as fans are introduced to Eva Marcille’s replacement, Drew Sidora.
Bravo synopsis:
Porsha’s release from prison after protesting further ignites her activism. Actress and songstress Drew Sidora brings her Chi-Town flavor to Atlanta, however her marriage is anything but picture perfect. Cynthia hosts a wine tasting at Lake Bailey, and an unlikely friendship has many of the women turning their heads. Meanwhile Kandi has a full circle moment as she attends Riley’s graduation.

Cynthia Introduces new “peach”…
Cynthia Bailey is tasked with the job of introducing this year’s newest peach holder, Drew Sidora. Cynthia claims Drew is a “friend” who moved to Atlanta but spparently, she only met Drew briefly LAST YEAR when Eva Marcille introduced her during Bailey’s engagement party.
The scene was left on the cutting room floor since Sidora didn’t make the team last year.
For whatever reason, she was brought back for a second chance and it feels weird how she and Cynthia have a dinner date and don’t really know much about each other.
Bailey asks about Drews family life and her career as an actress, as if she’s reading a list of questions in her hand. Despite the awkward introduction, Drew is here… and she’s holding a peach.
Kandi’s family matters…
Kandi Burruss has resurrected her child support storyline and fans have mixed emotions. While it’s clear that Riley’s dad should have contributed to her support over the years, it’s unclear as to exactly WHY Kandi chooses to revive it now as opposed to fighting for it while her child was underaged.
Riley is now a high school graduate and she’s headed off to college in New York, so it’s the perfect time for some extra cash.
Mama Joyce makes an appearance during the episode as only she and Kandi are allowed to attend the graduation due to covid-19 restrictions (only 2 family members per student).
The mother & daughter share tales of how Kandi’s Xscape members were mad at her for nearly missing a concert because she flew home to attend her graduation.
Whatever the case, she made it down the aisle to receive her diploma and it’s a full circle moment to see her daughter do the same.
Kenya recruits new “friend”…
Kenya is clearly in need of some “fresh meat” so she has suddenly become attached to a youtuber by the name of LaToya Ali.
Similarly to Drew’s introduction, LaToya was supposed to be brought to the group by someone else (Kandi), but Kenya notes that she “stole” her and now she’s her friend.
Look, I know it’s a pandemic and all, but umma need editors to do better because this season is already all over the place…. but I digress.
LaToya and Kenya’s connection seems to stem from the fact that LaToya is Trinidadian and so is Kenya’s estranged husband. It may be a shot in the dark, but I feel like Kenya is trying to use LaToya to get some insight into how Marc thinks so that she can woo him back.
On a related note, Kenya reveals during the episode that neither she nor Marc has filed for divorce BUT she’s preparing custody paperwork because she feels that he may try some “funny business” with Brooklyn. *sigh*

Drew Sidora’s marital issues…

Drew just got here and she’s already with the drama. I don’t know if it’s real or make believe but since she’s an established actress, I can only surmise that this is a bit of role play.
Drew and her husband Ralph have only been married for 6 years but they have a house full of kids and live-in mother in-law.
Ralph confides in Mike Hill (snooze) that he feels overwhelmed sometimes because of quarantining with so many people that he has to get away for his own sanity.
That being said, he and Drew celebrate their anniversary and have an “intimate” conversation about their relationship. Ralph initiates a chat about pros and cons in their marriage and Drew admits that it upsets her that he goes “ghost” for days at a time. Blah Blah Blah.
For the record, I’m trying to give them a chance… but I’m not invested in them enough to care yet.
Moving on.
Porsha’s protests…
Porsha Williams discusses how horrible it was spending time in jail after a long day of protesting for justice for Breonna Taylor. Despite being away from her young daughter, the popular housewife admits she would do it all again since Breonna no longer has the opportunity to be reunited with her family.
I commend Porsha for staying steadfast on the frontlines of the movement, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how it feels as if Bravo is merely using Black pain for profit.

I feel that if the network was actually being genuine about the subject, we would get to witness how some of their Caucasian shows addressed the issue.
We, as Black people, are quite aware of the protests and and how systemic racism works… the teachable moments would be best suited for those who offend, not the offended.
But I digress.
