WTF?!? Amazon Pulls Black Doll w/RACIST Description From Inventory…

Amazon is under fire this week after another racist item has been found in it’s inventory.

The companies digital marketplace peddles millions of products and somehow, a blatantly racist description of a black doll fell through the cracks.

Details below…

According to TMZ, Amazon was busted selling a children’s doll that is meant to depict a Black little girl with braids.

The description for the 14-inch figurine takes aim at a doll’s braided hair with an eyebrow-raising description, which reads:

Doli Yearning 14-inch Adorable Black Doll with Casual Red Skirt and Colored Dirty Braid Fashion Gorgeous Doll for Ages 3+ Interactive Playtime BPA Free Safety Product Well-Designed Collectable Box.

WTF is “colored dirty braid fashion”???! What the hell does that even mean?!?

Apparently the company, identified as Doli Yearning, feels that braided hair is dirty, and they feel the need to qualify it as “colored.”

For the record, Doli Yearning is a Chinese company that has been selling on Amazon less than a year and if you have any doubt about it’s racist intent… check out the Caucasian doll which is graciously described as an “Adorable Doll with Denim Suit and Colored Headbands Fashion Gorgeous Doll”

Amazon has reportedly pulled the product from it’s site, but it’s not the first (second, third or 10th) time this has happened. Amazon marketplace partners with virtually millions of merchandisers and retailers across the globe, and they might argue they can’t comb through every single one to weed out these awful descriptions.

While they are quick to “delete” offending items, it’s clear that the billion dollar company should have safeguards in place to prevent this from happening.

What are your thoughts about this disturbing situation?
