EXCLUSIVE: Peter Thomas Wants You To Know Something About His Marriage to Cynthia Bailey… *STATEMENT*

For the record, Cynthia Bailey of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and her husband Peter Thomas might be the first couple in history to attempt a ‘friendly’ divorce on tv.

Peter says he’s been in Charlotte plugging away with his bar/restaurant businesses and hasn’t had an opportunity to watch the show, but now that he’s all caught up on the footage, apparently Thomas is feeling ‘somekindaway’ and wants to address something Cynthia said about him in episode one.

Details below…

During the season 9 premiere episode (which you can watch HERE), Cynthia does a confessional where she states that she’s not the type to stick around when things get rough, stating:

When I decided to get married, he knew that I wasn’t the type of woman to stay in something just to stay in it.

Peter is built a little bit differently. He will stay in the relationship just to be in the relationship and that just doesn’t work for me.

That statement didn’t fare very will with Peter and he called me to respond with a ‘confession’ of his own.

Peter Thomas is apparently not very happy about what Cynthia has been saying about him in her confessionals. Specifically, it seems that the restauranteur has an issue with Bailey saying that he wants to keep his marriage in tact just for the hell of it.

Thomas addresses Cynthia’s statement with the following response:

My commitment is not to ‘stay in it to stay in it’ my comment was to stay in it because I know that every day is not a sunny day… not in any marriage.

There’s highs and lows. But the interesting thing about the highs and the lows is that you go through them together. ?That’s what commitment is. ?I’m committed. ?I don’t ‘stay in it to stay in it’.

Obviously she wasn’t as committed as I was… and I was offended by her statement.

[Sidebar: Bravo needs to go ahead and give Peter his own confessional just like they did Mama Joyce so that he can throw his shade on air with the rest of the ladies… but I digress.]

Meanwhile, Cynthia hit her Bravo blawg to share a bit more insight about the situation, stating:

A divorce is a very difficult thing to go through. It is spiritually and emotionally draining. The hardest part of this process for me has been trying to maintain a friendship and mutual respect for each other.

We were friends before we were husband and wife. I just don’t want to lose that.

And as for her daughter Noelle calling her out about having low self-esteem, Bailey states:

I do not have low self-esteem. I was really caught off guard when my daughter Noelle asked me if I did. I always try to teach her by example and be a good role model. It hurt me to hear her even have to question whether or not I had low self-esteem!

For the record, I still have my doubts about the validity of Cynthia & Peter’s break up but I’ll play along for the sake of entertainment.

Seriously, these two got married on camera, so it’s no surprise that they are now battling it out on camera (albiet in a ‘friendly’ manner).

What do you think of Peter’s response to his soon to be ex-wife?
