This week’s episode treated us to a ‘weird’ experience on ‘B.A.N.’ aka the fictional ‘Black America Network’, which was thought up by Donald Glover who wrote and produced this episode.

Oddly enough, Glover didn’t appear in it though, as we are?presented with a segment of the Montague Show, where PaperBoi was this week’s guest.

Apparently PaperBoi is on the hot seat for some of his lyrics, and he’s also been accused of being insensitive to Caitlyn Jenner and the plight of transexuals in America.

“I should be able to say something is ‘weird’ without people hating on me…” ~ Paper Boi

Franklin Montague, host of the Montague show is Glover’s version of a Tavis Smiley/Don Lemon clone and Paper Boi, his in-studio guest are joined by an expert (Dr. Deborah Holt) and the trio tackles important topics like PaperBoi’s lack of gender bending sensitivity.

In contrast, there’s also a feature on a 22 year old Black man named Harrison who has ‘Trans-Racial’ disorder.

Like Caitlyn, the young man believes he was born in the wrong skin and he believes that he’s actually a 35-year-old White man.

I mean… if Caitlyn can wake up one morning and say he’s a woman, why can’t a Black man wake up one day and say he’s White? Hmmmm…. interesting.

Harrison’s mother is skeptical of his ‘Trans-Racial identity’ diagnosis stating, “Hell, I can wake up one day and say I’m Rihanna, but I’m not!”…?but he’s found a doctor willing to perform?a surgical procedure to turn him white because that’s who he identifies with.

“The procedure is 100% possible… it’s gonna look ‘weird’ tho… “ states the doctor.

‘Weird’ seems to be the common theme throughout this week’s episode of Atlanta. It was awesome though!

Especially the random commercials that came along with the commentary. They were for real products (i.e. Dodge Charger, Swisher Sweets, etc.) but each featured it’s own twist. It was almost reminiscent to the Chappelle show in it’s hey day… pure comedic genus!

Oh… and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the?commercial about Coconut Crunches that involved a white cartoon cop using extreme force against that poor wolf.

Needless to say, Atlanta is just as ‘weird’ as Paper Boi’s thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner, but it’s a good weird and it’s also thought provoking.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Atlanta?
