Freaknik is more than just an event, it’s a part of Atlanta history that everyone wants to be a part of.
Sad thing is… you can’t ‘re-write’ history!

That being said, there’s been many who’ve tried to reincarnate the legendary spring break festival and failed and now comes another with plans to cash in on ‘Freaknik 2016’ over the Labor Day weekend.

I?m getting calls from people asking if it?s for real. It is real.
For the record, Hefner didn?t get to experience any of the original Freakniks (he?s only 20) he?s heard stories and apparently his mom was an avid ‘Freakniker’ back in the day.
Hefner and his fellow promoters think bringing back ‘Freaknik’ for a new generation would be a good idea.
?This is going to be wild, fun, just like parties used to be,? he said. ?We?re expecting thousands of people.?
Freaknik has been held at various parts of the city in the past (i.e. Washington Park, Mosely Park, Decatur, Piedmont) but it was the traffic tie-ups in downtown Atlanta that finally caused its demise.

?We?re going to have multiple DJs, games, all types of stuff,? Hefner said.
?This is a one time thing for our generation.?
This ‘one time thing’ sounds more like a Labor Day party than ‘Freaknik’ to me. Hell, Freaknik could not be confined to the walls of just one spot… It was EVERYWHERE.
But I digress. I’ll let the youngsters keep trying to relive our past.
