Fellow snap-chatters are all aware about the speed filter that records the users speed when a photo is snapped, well 18 year-old Christal McGee, 18, was behind the wheel of her father’s white Mercedes when she thought it was a bright ideal to ‘snapchat’ the experience.

After reaching a speed of 113mph, McGee plowed into another vehicle and now the victim in that crash is suing both the young driver AND Snapchat!
McGee reportedly wanted to capture a similar shot while driving her dad’s Mercedes as she left work with 3 co-workers (one of whom was pregnant at the time).
According to court documents, it was McGee’s goal to see how fast she could go so that she could post it on her snapchat, so she accelerated, then accelerated some more, before reaching a speed of at least 113 miles per hour on a suburban road outside Atlanta where the speed limit is 55.
According to a statement from the plaintiff’s law office:
“McGee wanted to post an image of herself going fast. She argued that she was, ‘Just trying to get the car to 100 miles per hour to post it on Snapchat.'”
Maynard Wentworth, an Uber driver, was just starting his shift that night, and apparently McGhee didn’t see his car until it was much too late and hit him while traveling at 107 miles per hour.
Wentworth suffered a traumatic brain injury and was hospitalized for months.
The lawsuit, filed in state court of Spalding County in Georgia, said McGee was driving distracted and did not see Maynard’s car merging onto the highway.
McGee’s car struck Maynard’s car, which sent his vehicle across the left lane and into an embankment.
“It crushed the back left side of Maynard?s Outlander and caused trauma to his body and brain that would alter the rest of his life,” the statement said. (source)
While McGee was ‘snapping’ away from her hospital bed, her crash victim?spent weeks in intensive care for a severe tramatic brain injury and now uses a wheelchair.
Wentworth and his wife are suing both Snapchat and McGee to pay his medical bills following the accident, which the suit said has caused him to miss work driving for Uber.
A Snapchat spokesman told reporters he could not comment on an ongoing lawsuit, but added that Snapchat has a warning not to use the miles per hour filter while driving.
