Buckhead Brawl Between Atlanta Cops Ends in Disciplinary Action…

Atlanta’s Buckhead area has become notorious for it’s after-hours nightlife and now the City of Atlanta Police department has added to the growing list of concerns in the upscale area.

Two officers that were enlisted to increase the peace are now the topic of conversation after battling each other at a popular late night eatery.

One officer is on administrative leave and another has resigned after a heated debate between the two led one to allegedly draw his gun.

Details below…

Officers Stephen Green and Joseph Tyler were dining with other officers from the High Intensity Traffic Team on March 18, 2016 at?R. Thomas’ Deluxe Grill?in Buckhead when the altercation occurred.

Green and Tyler were having a discussion that became heated, with the latter declaring, “I’m going to punch you in the face.”

In case you’re wondering what serious topic would lead to such an intense debate,??11 Alive?reports that?Green and Tyler were arguing over who would win in a foot race.

A conversation ensued about who could run faster in a foot race when things got heated. Tyer became upset and told Green that he would, ?Punch him in the face.? A shocked Green stated ?What?? and Tyer repeated his comment.

A fistfight soon broke out between the two officers.

That?s when according to police, Tyer allegedly pulled his service revolver but did not fire his weapon.

Other officers were able to diffuse the?situation, but APD administrators were NOT happy about the encounter.

The Office of Professional Standards has now opened an investigation and both Green and Tyer were relieved of duty and a statement released from the APD alludes to further action being taken:

?The Atlanta Police Department takes these allegations very seriously. Chief [George] Turner has always prioritized officer accountability and professional behavior at all times.

He will continue to take decisive action when necessary to hold his employees to the highest standard.?

The city of Atlanta has roughly 2,000 uniformed officers. ?Green, who had been with the force since 2011, is on administrative leave, while Tyer, who has been with the APD since 2012, resigned on Tuesday.
