Dugan’s on Ponce is one of them.

As Atlanta’s Ponce de Leon Avenue goes through a major renovation, it’s been rumored that the biker-friendly sports bar will be demolished to make room for a Chick-fil-A restaurant… well, according to Dugan’s, they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Details below…

It’s been reported on several sites that Dugan’s property located at 777 Ponce de Leon Ave. would soon be a part of Atlanta history and many were immediately up in arms about the news.

AtlantaEater linked to a real estate page that shows what appears to be plans for a Chick-fil-A to take over the popular midtown area wings joint, which is just a couple of stones throw away from Ponce City Market and the very busy Beltline. The listing, which can be viewed HERE, refers to 777 Ponce De Leon Ave as a ?trophy location? and boasts:

?This Chick-fil-A is immediately adjacent to the most dynamic new and upcoming projects in Atlanta including: Ponce City Market (2.1 million SF mixed-use development), The BeltLine ($2.8 Bill urban redevelopment), 725 Ponce (Beltline Kroger), Krog Street Market ($70 Million mixed-use development), Clermont Hotel (98 Room Boutique Hotel), Midtown Place (Whole Foods/Home Depot), and more.

Dugan’s, which opened on Ponce in 1982, continues to operate locations in Stone Mountain, Decatur, and South Fulton County. When contacted by phone about the potential closing of it’s Ponce location, Dugan’s denied the report and stated, ‘it’s a rumor.’

Meanwhile, to make their point clear… the location has placed a sign on their marquee proclaiming that they are NOT closing:

That’s prime real estate. I’m sure if they get that billion dollar they’re waiting on, we’ll have to travel to Stone Mountain for $2 Tuesday. Stay tuned…
