Another day, another social media love story makes headlines. While most times the ‘story’ stems from a made up tweet or two, this particular tale consists of a real-life love story!
Atlanta couple Anuj Patel and Sumita Dalmia met online with what began as an innocent post on Twitter.
Fast forward two years later, and Patel utilized the popular social-networking site for a ‘twitter-themed’ proposal for the love of his life, which consisted of a scavenger hunt that ended with a ring!
Details about this heartwarming twitter-themed love story below…
Patel, 26, and Dalmia, 27, both from the metro Atlanta area, fell for each other through the social media network, exchanging tweets for the first time in 2013.? Once he knew he’d fallen head over heels for his social-media love, Patel proposed to Dalmia in an all-out Twitter-themed event last month, down to the font, graphics, hashtag and timestamp.
The them of the event was based on the way they met online.? Back in 2013, Patel posted on Twitter about an extra ticket to Jazoo, an event hosted by Zoo Atlanta. Little did he know, the stranger who would respond would became his fianc? just two years later.
Though Patel had given his extra Jazoo ticket away before he heard from Dalmia, the two immediately connected and exchanged contact information.
“I remember joking with a friend that day, saying, ‘I think I just met the man of my dreams,'” Dalmia said.
Little did Delmia know that two years later, Patel would propose using the same social-media site they connected on!
For his elaborate proposal, Patel planned to have Dalmia’s sister take her out on a day of fun ? masked as a “Christmas present.” The outing started with a girl’s day at the spa, and then Delmia was presented with a set of clues.
Patel had created a Twitter-themed scavenger hunt with instructions and several clues packaged in an envelope, clues designed to look just like a tweet, time stamped exactly for the moment each would land in her hands.
Each clue led Dalmia to a different iconic location in their relationship and included the hashtag #SumitaFindAnuj.
Not only did Patel create the paper versions for her to hold, but he live-tweeted the entire thing, too.
After leading Dalmia to several memorable spots around Atlanta where they’d ‘courted’ during their 2-year relationship, Patel’s tweets led Dalmia on a horse-and-carriage ride to a hotel in Midtown, where he’d booked a room.? There, Delmia found a dress waiting alongside the next set of clues…
After changing into her new dress, Dalmia was led up to the hotel’s helipad where Patel was waiting for her, holding a final tweet that read: “Will you marry me?”
And of course, she said: “YES!”
Dalmia said she was amazed at the detail that went into the proposal, which was very reflective of their relationship.? She and Patel are expected to marry in fall 2016 and the cute social-media couple have already chosen the perfect hashtag to commemorate their big day: #Tweethearts2016.
Congratulations to the happy couple on their engagement!
