Approximately a year ago, Kyle Norman of the Atlanta-based R&B group Jagged Edge was arrested for brutally assaulting his then fianc? by shoving her engagement ring down her throat.

The pair have since married and recently appeared on The Steve Harvey Show to discuss the events that led to the violent encounter.
In the interview, Kyle’s wife, Marrika, talks about why she decided to stay and subsequently marry the man who caused her so much pain and Kyle also reveals his quest to speak out against domestic violence.

I just knew it was not him. Kyle has always provided for me… always cared for me. I just think he was out of his mind.
You know… sometimes drinking and drugs and stuff like that… you’re not yourself.
Marrika was also a foster parent at the time and she lost custody of the little girl that she was keeping at the time because of the incident.
I would let her know how deeply sorry that I am and that I’ma be the best father with every breath that’s in me.
That monster that night, you will never see him… and if you see that in any relationship that you’re involved in… move away from that.
Kyle also sends a message to Jagged Edge fans, stating:
I just want my fans to know that I’m Kyle… Kyle made a mistake. But I’ve got to continue to be a better person.
We all sin and fall short of the glory of God… but I’m human. Whatever I have to do, I’ma do it… whatever I have to say, I’ma say it… to speak out against domestic violence.
