Yes… there are White actresses out there who feel ‘some kinda way’ about Viola Davis’ speech and one of them couldn’t hold their tongue last night and hit social media with her outrage.
After Davis snagged the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, she also snagged the hearts of many with a powerful speech about the lack of opportunity for Black actresses in Hollywood.

While the world cheered Viola’s powerful words, there was at least one person who was not a fan of Davis’ Emmys acceptance speech… soap star Nancy Lee Grahn (best known for her role as ‘Alexis Davis’ on General Hospital).

Nancy Lee Grahn’s White privilege attitude shone bright like a diamond as she hit the tweets last night after Viola Davis’ win, stating:
The soap star even suggested that Davis hasn’t experienced discrimination in Hollywood.
“I think she’s the bees knees but she’s elite of TV performers,” she tweeted to a fan. “Brilliant as she is. She has never been discriminated against.”
While Grahn deleted several of her tweets, the conversations she was having about Davis’ Emmy win remain.? She continued in the following discussion with a follower who’s account was private…

After receiving immediate backlash about her rant, Grahn issued a few apology tweets, stating:
I apologize for my earlier tweets and now realize I need to check my own privilege. My intention was not to take this historic and important moment from Viola Davis or other women of color but I realize that my intention doesn’t matter here because that is what I ended up doing. I learned a lot tonight and I admit that there are still some things I don’t understand but I am trying to and will let this be a learning experience for me
I can’t say I’m surprised at all about Grahn’s attitude and her apology is merely meant to protect her brand, nothing more.? I’m almost positive her attitude hasn’t changed a bit, she’ll just rethink speaking out about it next time. *sigh*
