It was just a little over a month ago that Derek J. and his attorney in the case, Phaedra Parks of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, were in court facing the accusations of Benita Williams, a woman claiming that he’d ‘stole’ her weave right out of her head (click HERE if you missed that).

During their 1st court appearance (July 23), Derek refused to settle with the Plaintiff, who was seeking THOUSANDS of dollars in ‘damages’ and the case was subsequently rescheduled after Williams ‘fainted’ due to the stress (insert side-eye).

The parties appeared in court again yesterday (Aug 27) and Williams was no less dramatic than the first time. ?However, this time around the outcome was favorable to Derek J.

Exclusive details below…

The civil lawsuit filed by Benita Williams against Derek J appeared on the Fulton County docket again yesterday (August 27, 2015) and things got a bit heated before the case was finally voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff.

Derek’s attorney of record, Phaedra Parks was unavailable to attend due to some sort of emergency with one of her sons.

For the record, the judge wasn’t having it and stated in open court that she had only heard that Parks was on the way to the pediatrician, so she was willing to wait until 3pm for Parks to appear to try the case.

Phaedra sent one of her legal associates in her place and he told the judge that he was willing to move forward in her absence.

The plaintiff, Belinda Williams, appeared again pro se (without counsel) but she was unprepared to proceed since none of her ‘witnesses’ showed up.

During the 1st court appearance I reported how Williams arrived at court with security and police escorts… well, I’m not sure how she arrived yesterday, but during court, Williams told the judge that she was in fear of her life and that her witness were so afraid that they refused to show up.

[Sidebar: ?After ‘passing out’ in court last time, nothing Williams said was surprising. But I digress.]

Again… the judge wasn’t having it and advised Williams that she either needed to proceed with trying the case or dismiss it with the option of refiling once she was more prepared.

Williams chose to voluntarily dismiss the case (without prejudice)… meaning she can refile if she so chooses.

My guess is that she was hoping that Derek would pay up or offer a few free hairstyles, but the stylist wasn’t budging on his position that he didn’t steal her weave!

Whatever the case, the case has now been dismissed and Derek J. is no longer on the hook for Benita Williams used weave.

FYI, there was a counter claim filed by Derek against Williams for defamation of character. ?Oddly enough, someone from an insurance company appeared in court last time and I think Derek got a check outta the deal.

See how God works! Derek J is such a sweet person with a kind spirit. ?It’s great that he came out of this with some extra coins!
