The Destiny?s Child crooner will play the mother of Howard?s character Lucious Lyon in a flashback, according to E!.
The casting suggests that audiences will get their first looks at Lucious Lyon?s childhood and what drove the gangster-turned-rapper-turned-entrepreneur.
The 34-year-old singer also recently popped up in a post from the official Empire writers Twitter account hanging with the screenwriters:

The new season of Empire starts September 23, 2015.
