The superstar crooner, who was in the news recently after filing his 3rd?restraining order against the same over zealous ‘superfan’ (click HERE if you missed that), he?hit the red carpet during the NY premiere screening of Netflix’s highly anticipated Nina Simone documentary, ?“What Happened, Miss Simone?,” which was held at?The Apollo Theater New York City.

“What Happened, Miss Simone?,”?a Netflix original due on the streaming site June 26th, traces the life of iconic songstress and activist, Nina Simone, from her childhood classical training to her triumphant late-Eighties resurgence.

Using recordings of Simone interviews and glimpses of diary entries to tell the tale, the film unflinchingly delves into manic depression, bipolar disorder and the cycle of abuse while providing plenty of powerful performance footage.
The?film?also received an explosive mini tribute concert from Simone devotee Lauryn Hill last night, as she hit the stage at the Apollo for a rousing performance which featured surprise guest Jazmine Sullivan.
Hill is one of the featured artists on an upcoming tribute album titled, ?Nina Revisited ? A Tribute to Nina Simone,? alongside Usher, Common, Mary J. Blige and others. It’s scheduled for released on June 30th.
