This year it’s all about Kanye West, who revisited one of his most infamous stunts during Sunday night’s Grammy awards, as he unexpectedly took to the Staples Center stage during Beck’s album of the year award acceptance speech.
The win was the unquestionably the shock of the evening, as Beck’s “Morning Phase” album beat out both Sam Smith, and Beyonc? for the coveted award!
Beck seemed as surprised as the rest of the audience when he won the award and appeared to be looking around for help. That’s when Yeezy seized the moment, jumping up on stage as if he was about to take the mic… (again)

Instead, West flaked out and quickly returned to his seat, but not before getting a few laughs from friends nearby (Beyonc?, Jay-Z, wife Kim Kardashian & John Legend).
But wait… West wasn’t joking at all. In fact, after the show he clarified his actions by ranting that Beyonc? should have won for her self-titled album and that ‘out of respect’ Beck should have given her the Grammy!

In the video above, Kanye appears on the E! network’s aftershow, where he rants about The Grammy Award’s not respecting the craft of music.
“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonc?.”
“Because when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in their face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.”
West continued. “And we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyonc? album and they feel like it takes them to another place.”
Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian even joined in on the Beck bashing. Tweeting the following selfie of her reaction to the album of the year announcement.
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish,” West said after taking the microphone at Radio City Music Hall, “but Beyonc? had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
