Last night, The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) aired Bill Duke’s ‘Light Girls’ documentary, the filmmaker’s follow-up to his exploration of colorism, Dark Girls (January 19, 2015).

Duke explores the pain, privilege and prejudice of light-skinned women in the new documentary, ?Light Girls,? which is a spin-off of ?Dark Girls.?

The Black community once again addressed ‘colorism,’ and Life Coach Iyanla Vanzant was there to lead the way as she detailed how hurtful words and name calling affects younger people as they move into their adulthood.

Diahann Carroll, Kym Whitley, Essence Atkins, Raven-Symone (who once proclaimed to Oprah her desire to not be ‘labeled’ any color) and more opened up about their harsh experiences as light-skinned black women.

?When I had my own show, I used to tan three or four times a week in a tanning bed to get darker. I did,? Raven-Symone revealed in the new doc in reference to her show, ?That?s So Raven.?

Amber Rose was also one of many actresses featured in Light Girls and she revealed a dark family secret. Rose, one of several celebs featured in the film, says that some of her family didn?t attend her wedding to Wiz Khalifa because she married a Black man.

Rose, who is Creole, Portuguese and Italian, explained that some of her older family members still have a bias against dark-skinned people and feel their light skin makes them “better.”

?With my family, they feel like they?re more superior or better than an African American because we?re Creole and we have culture, and that?s something I battle with most of my life,” she explains.

?It?s more of the older people in my family. I feel like that?s why my father is white.?
