#RHOA Kenya Moore Claims She’ll Hand Over $20,000 Donation to Detroit Public Schools Next Week…

Kenya Moore of The Real Housewives of Atlanta claims she will finally donate that $20,000 to Detroit Public Schools.

[FLASHBACK: Kenya & Nene Still Haven’t Honored Donation to Detroit Public Schools… ]

If you recall, Nene Leakes challenged Kenya to donate to the cause of her choice, stating she would match Kenya’s donation and they could ‘write the check together… at the same time’. However Kenya never came up with the dough.

Now it’s a new season and the ladies have new contracts, so Moore apparently feels it’s now safe to cut the check…. (especially while the cameras are rolling for the new season!)

Details below…

According to the Detroit Free Press:

Kenya Moore, a cast member of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” will donate $20,000 during an appearance Oct. 17 at Cass Technical High School, her alma mater. It will be filmed for an upcoming episode of the show.

Moore said her Detroit roots, the inequities she sees in the education system and the city’s financial problems inspired her to give back.

“A lot of these kids now, because this city is bankrupt, they are just not getting the opportunities,” Moore said. “How do you expect them to excel when they can’t get a book they need for class, let alone a computer?

“I think right now it’s a dire situation for Detroit. I wish I could give more of my money to DPS. Clearly, $20,000 is not going to solve the problem, (but) hopefully it will help.”

Moore also plans to start a scholarship program for girls who attend Cass Tech.

The city’s bankruptcy and DPS are not linked. However, the school system has severe financial problems, with a deficit that was $127 million at the end of June.

Moore and fellow cast member NeNe Leakes each pledged to donate $20,000 during a sixth-season reunion episode of the Bravo TV show. It was taped in March and aired in May.

There was speculation that the women wouldn’t follow through. When a check still hadn’t been cut days after the show aired, radio station HOT 107.5 held its own fund-raiser for the DPS Foundation.

It’s unclear whether Leakes plans to pay up at the same time as Moore’s grand ceremony, but being that she’s now ranked as the highest paid reality show star in the game right now, I’m sure she’ll cut the check as well.

Never forget…

“I will write a $20,000 check, and I’d like to see you match me,” Leakes responded. “We’ll write it together.”

“All right,” Moore said.
