Michael Brown was killed by a police officer as he reportedly had his hands up to surrender, sparking protests around the nation, and a preliminary private autopsy performed on Sunday found that he was shot at least six times, including twice in the head.
Lesley McSpadden and family attorney Benjamin Crump spoke exclusively to Robin Roberts of ABC News about the autopsy and protests and tearfully explained that only ‘justice’ will restore peace in the wake of her son’s death.

The preliminary autopsy shows that Brown was shot at least 6 times.
One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown?s skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury. According to Baden, it was likely the last of bullets to hit him.
Mr. Brown, 18, was also shot four times in the right arm, he said, adding that all the bullets were fired into his front.
The bullets did not appear to have been shot from very close range because no gunpowder was present on his body. However, that determination could change if it turns out that there is gunshot residue on Mr. Brown?s clothing, to which Dr. Baden did not have access.
Mr. Brown, he said, would not have survived the shooting even if he had been taken to a hospital right away. The autopsy indicated that he was otherwise healthy.
Dr. Baden said it was unusual for the federal government to conduct a third autopsy, but dueling examinations often occur when there is so much distrust of the authorities. The county of St. Louis has conducted an autopsy, and the results have not yet been released.?(source)
Baden stressed that his examination was not to determine whether the shooting was justified.
Brown’s mother appeared alongside her attorney, Benjamin Crump, this morning to speak with ABC news about the autopsy and the civil unrest surrounding her son’s death.
It confirms worst fears that the witnesses were telling the truth, robin, that her son was shot multiple times. And the most troubling is the head shot that, you know — it’s just not justified in any way, fashion or form to execute this child.
Well, robin, the family wanted to make sure that they had their own independent autopsy because there was no guarantee that the federal government was going to do an autopsy. And if they did not do it, we would be left with the St. Louis law enforcement officer’s autopsy.
And Michael brown Jr. Wanted to rely on the same police department that executed her child in broad daylight. There was the need to have an independent autopsy and this independent autopsy showed he was shot in his head, his eye, his arm, his hand.
And it was very troubling to this family. So they had to get the truth out.
Roberts: :”I know that you and the family have distanced yourself from the violence because it takes away from the focus of the investigation being on your son and what happened. How can peace be restored, ma’am?”
McFadden responds, “With justice.”
And what is justice to you? Robin asks.
McFadden: “Being fair. Arresting this man and making him accountable for his actions.”
Will justice ever truly be served?
