In case you missed it, watch the ‘Being Mary Jane’ 2-hour season finale below…

Being Mary Jane (Season Finale Part 1) “Blindsided”

Mary Jane is having problems dealing with her friend’s death personally and professionally and she is advised by her ‘higher ups’ to say nothing about it on air, pending legal issues that may arise. The career woman is faced with the fact that her pursuit of a story may have actually caused the death of her friend (Terrence was accused of plagiarizing a new story about the prison system).

By the end of the first episode, Mary Jane follows her conscience and ends her show with a riveting speech about her friend and her quest to honor his legacy by continuing his expose of the corrupt prison.

Mary Jane’s niece, Neicy, is preparing to give birth and her dad and uncle (finally) pay a visit to Dante at his mother?s home. We soon find out that Dante has never even told his mom that he was about to be a daddy (again)!! Dante’s Mom is shocked to learn that her teen son has knocked up not one but TWO women, and she advises her son to head to the hospital if this baby is indeed his. Baby Isabelle is born and greeted by a room full of family who all celebrate the newest Patterson’s arrival.

As Mary Jane gets her turn holding the infant,? her younger brother tells her she?s next.? (Interesting…)

Kara (Lisa Vidal) and her ex-husband John have a moment and he reveals he understands her ambition, and doesn?t admonish her for it. Where most people hear no, you hear ‘try harder.’ he says.? The couple’s mutual respect for one another, in spite of their failing marriage, reveals that things may not be as far gone as we think. John suggests that he keep the kids and tells her that him doing so, doesn?t necessarily make her an awful mother. In tears, Kara finally admits to her ex that she loves her children more than she loves her job.

Ok… now for the good stuff!

Being Mary Jane (Season Finale Part 2) “Blindsided”

We found out last week that Mary Jane’s ex-boyfriend had moved on with another woman and it’s ‘pretty serious’.

David reaches out after hearing of Terrence’s death and his call gives MJ a little bit of hope that their relationship can be restored.

Her good girlfriend seems hopeful on the phone but there’s something brewing under the surface.

?I guess God gives us something to hold on to even at the worse of times,? her gynecologist friend tells her.

Coincidentally, David shows up in the final minutes of the first half of the finale, inquiring about his stolen sperm.

?Did you steal my sperm?? he asks.

David rushes to the fridge to search for his semen and MJ finally admits, ?It?s in the baking soda. There is no excuse, you know??

David demands she takes a pregnancy test… but somewhere along the line the two sit for a conversation over wine discussing Mary Jane’s level of ‘crazy’.? David reveals that Mary Jane could have had him, but she walked away too soon, he also confirmed the old adage of? how ‘a closed mouth won’t get fed’ because apparently all Mary Jane had to do was ask for a baby instead of stealing his sperm!

?You know what, Mary Jane? If you wanted a baby, all you had to do was ask.?

That one statement leads our heroine to believe that her relationship with David is meant to be.? He’s the one, right?

After confronting a few friends about to find out who snitched, it’s revealed that it was actually her own BFF who ratted her out about the sperm!

The friend feels bad, but supports MJ’s efforts to ‘get her man back’… after a few drinks, the two load up into a waiting limo and drops by his house.? Mary Jane greets David’s new girlfriend, who tells her at the door ‘this isn’t going to end well for you.’ and lo and behold… it didn’t.

Mary Jane is left feeling dumb and rejected after David reveals that she dumped him ‘too soon.’? He says he had money all along but didn’t want to live off of his parent’s money.

Mary Jane recalls being supportive of him and his endeavors, David recalls that she didn’t fight hard enough.? Neither of them have the same view of their failed union, which leads David to ask, ‘Were we in the same relationship?’

*sigh* Perception is reality, right?

Moving on…

After leaving David’s Mary Jane heads to Kara’s where she reveals she had an affair with a married man.

Kara, who’s husband also cheated on her, takes the occurrence VERY personally and suggests that Mary Jane apologize to Avery, the wife (Robinne Lee).? Kary says all she ever wanted was an apology from the woman who destroyed her marriage.

Bad idea #2.

Mary Jane and Kara head over to her married ex-boyfriends house and they spot Andre (Omari Hardwick) leaving with the kids.

The two decide it’s the perfect opportunity to apologize to Andre’s wife. During the tense conversation, Kara has a bit of a breakdown and admits she checked out of her own marriage.? She suggests that Avery ask MJ what she gave him that she didn?t. (Never Forget – Mary Jane’s number #2 speech!)

[FLASHBACK: FOR DISCUSSION: Why Be Number 1 When You Can Be Number 2? ]

As expected, the apology doesn’t go as planned and the ladies are basically kicked out of the house.

All of these random visits occur on the same night and MJ’s ‘UBER’ driver has been a witness to it all.? He offers her some words of wisdom…

The finale kinda ends like a Tyler Perry movie in that there’s redemption on all ends.? The birth of a new baby, the baby father’s acceptance, Mary Jane’s mother coming to terms with her illness and enjoying the life she has left, David (the ex) moving on with his new lady love, Andre (the married boyfriend) returning home to his wife, the wife considering Mary Jane’s number 2 speech, and finally Mary Jane’s own full circle moment… the turkey baster!!

Mary Jane gets her doctor friend (aka the snitch) to agree to inseminate her with David’s sperm (at home using a turkey baster).? Mary Jane hears David’s voice in her head… “If you wanted a baby, all you had to do was ask.” and she realizes that having a ‘turkey baster’ baby isn’t the right decision…. not now. Not like this!

In the closing minutes, Andre is shown moving back in with his wife and kids, and MJ is shown back on David’s doorstep as she hands him the stolen sperm.

?Goodbye David, and I really do hope that you have a great life,? she states as she kisses him goodbye.? David has a look of loss in his eys, but then it’s revealed that he and his new girlfriend are expecting.

The END!
