VIDEO: Being Mary Jane (Episode 3)

Mary Jane’s married boyfriend is faced with the dilemma of dealing with his wife after proposing to his mistress.? Andre?s wife gives him an ultimatum to stop seeing Mary Jane or risk losing 75% of his marketing business, the house and kids thanks to a crafty legal post-nup, but when he counters with a stern rejection of his wife’s demands, it’s evident that Andre may actually be in love with Mary Jane.

The single career woman is feeling the pinch as she faces more responsibility for her family. Nichelle, her pregnant neice, is faced with the reality that her baby?s father is not stepping up and everyone in the family knows it. She?s even stood up for a prenatal appointment, and left holding out hope while gazing out the window.

The underlying story is the relationship between Mary Jane?s parents. They were once madly in love, but now her dad spends his days taking drives in his vintage Porsche.

When MJ and her father head out for a father-daughter date, he confides in her about his marriage to her ailing mom and speaks about marriage.

Mary Jane’s mom?s illness and bitter disposition has tarnished her relationship and when Mom realizes her husband has caught the eye of another woman, Mama Patterson delivers the episode?s most stinging line about triflin’ women, stating:

Today?s vultures smell blood before you even say I do.

They can never cultivate a man. It?s always easier for them to take someone else?s.

Whooo chile! She must live in Atlanta!! 😯

Mary Jane’s dad clearly loves the attention he’s getting and as Mary Jane witnesses his transformation, she gets a bit protective of her parents’ relationship, despite her own philandering with a married man.?

And speaking of her ‘married man,’? Andre sends Mary Jane the engagement ring with a note asking her to seriously consider his offer.? Now what? *sigh*

Mary Jane hosts a ‘girl’s night out’ at her house and all of her professional friends get together to dish about love, life, and careers.

The topic of having affairs with married men comes up but Mary Jane keeps quiet about her escapades… but she does give up the goods on at least one of her dirty little secrets: the sperm she?s stashed from her previous jumpoff, David!

Mary Jane texts her married fiance after her girlfriends head home. Text after text, no response from Andre.

He’s a bit busy having a real life argument with his wife so he can’t answer right now.

Andre and his wife argue about how often they have sex, miscommunication, diminishing feelings, and even the possibilities of being single. While he and his wife hash it out, his phone goes off with texts from Mary Jane.

But just when we thought Mary Jane might come out the winner this time, the episode ends with Andre making passionate love to? (drum roll please!) His wife!

Mary Jane once again wakes up alone and realizes that her texts went unanswered.

Now Mary Jane is left wondering if her ‘engagement’ to her married boyfriend is really real? or was she just a married man’s play thing?
