In a preview of the next episode of RHOA, the ladies head to Savannah where they tour a few monumental tourist spots and Porsha is caught on tape (yet again) saying one of the dumbest comments ever and the net is buzzing about it. [Sidebar: As if that ‘265 days a year comment’ wasn’t bad enough… ]

As the tour guide explains how holes in the floor were used as air pockets for slaves who hid underneath the church in order to avoid being caught on their escape route, Porsha asks where the “opening”of the underground is because there has to be a place where the train conductor can do what he needs to do.

Needless to say, that type of ignorance coming from someone bred from the legacy of a civil rights icon is upsetting and some have even spoke out about it.
I received the following letter today from a disgruntled fan.

subject: Underground railroadHow could you not be covering the story of Porsha not knowing what the Underground Railroad was?
This is particularly offensive because her grandfather was the 3rd most recognizable figure in the Civil rights movement behind Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. This is an abomination and I demand you cover this story regardless of how you feel about Porsha, its time for a re-education of what the Underground Railroad is for all the black people out there like Porsha.
I live in Washington D.C. where we abhor some of the stuff coming out of Atlanta because most black people here have a Master’s degree and a very professional title, and could never be seen doing some of the things coming out on Reality T.V out of Atlanta.
Our biggest concern is that the things that go on down their in black Hollywood misrepresent the real movers and shakers and future strongholds of the black race. Corporate Executives the ones in the Boule or the ones in the Executive Leadership Council are by far the most Powerful black people, however we are represented as coons for the fancy of white America, I mean damn some of us still don’t even know what the Underground Railroad is?
The middle class working black people is who get messed up by this. We are not entertainers we are intellectuals with legacies that are meant to be taken very seriously, and whose influence shaped every facet of this country. No matter who you are, Entertainment is fleeting, but a professional career is sustainable for life. This is the message that gets lost in the depiction of the black race in Atlanta and its shameful/hurtful that other races don’t know or care to know the difference, because we are still in the same slave mentality that we’ve always been. Gotta impress Massa! GTFOH its ridiculous.
Please cover this story and chastise entertainers for not telling kids the sustainable truth. A job in a demanded specialty is your best bet!
