NEWSFLASH! Jeezy isn’t ‘YOUNG’ Anymore… [Drops ‘Young’ From Rap Moniker]

It comes time in every young persons life where you are forced to be seen as anything but ‘young’ or ‘lil.” ?Bow Wow did it… Romeo Miller did it and now the sentiment isn’t lost on CTE’s own Jay Jenkins… aka Young Jeezy.

Known since his inception into rap as “Young Jeezy” the under the radar MC has decided its time to get his grown man on and cease and desist the word “Young”.

If you recall, the “RIP” star was quoted back in April 2010 that he’d NEVER change it, stating:

“Nah. I’m ‘Young,’ man,” he declared.

“I’mma stay Young till I ain’t Young no more. I don’t know why they trying to make me old. But this is ‘Young Jizzle from the bottom of the map.’ This is the name they gave me. I gotta rock till it’s over with.” [MTV]

Well it seems age cooler heads prevailed and Jeezy’s finally officially making the leap from boy to man.

Details below…

Jeezy partied alongside Ludacris and Jermaine Dupri last weekend just prior to making his announcement.

While he’s quietly tried to drop “Young” in the past to no avail, this week is different for the hit-making rap-star…. and it seems Jeezy is eager to put on his grown man pants.

“Oh, no, no, no, it’s Jeezy now,” Jeezy said when referenced as ‘Young Jeezy’ during a recent interview.

“I’m grown now. I did enough of that. It sounds good because when I came into the game, that’s what I was and that was my state of mind. But I’m a grown man now. Jeezy. It’s all good. We got a little older now.”

Personally, I’ve always addressed the man as Jeezy in the streets. And to be totally honest, I’d go further by callin him by his gov’ment name Jay Jenkins.

I’m not one to knock a name change tho… it worked for Diddy (at least 3 times) and while Bow Wow will always be Lil Bow Wow here at StraightFromTheA, we salute grown man activities.

So SALUTE to you Jeezy, on your new found moniker!

How do you feel about Jeezy dropping the “Young” from his stage name?

Does it even matter?
