It’s no secret that Atlanta is the originator of the ‘Twerk’ and urban youths have been ‘twerkin’ it up in the clubs way before Miley Cyrus pushed the slang into middle America and beyond, in ways nobody expected.

When it was announced that ‘twerking’ had been added to the Oxford dictionary,?Hollywood Actor Morgan Freeman aka ‘the voice of God,’ was called upon to recite it’s official definition, but oddly enough, the concept still seemed lost on the Freeman.

Details + watch Morgan Freeman define ‘twerking’ below…

Morgan visited HLN’s Morning Express yesterday, and was asked to report a bit of popular news regarding how Oxford Dictionary online had officially added ‘twerk’ to its dictionary.

Yes, TWERK is now officially a word (air quotes are no longer necessary), but in the process of being defined, it’s lost the little bit of coolness that it once had!

That?s not to say that the commonly used word isn’t deserving of an entry, or that?Oxford?s online definition (?dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance?) isn?t sufficient.

But… when a piece of slang gets a ‘proper’ definition, no matter how thorough (i.e. ‘Bling Bling), it just takes a bit of the fun out of using it.

[Sidebar:? I find the whole idea that there’s actually a ‘g’ on the end of such a slang driven word utterly ridiculous. Why not just keep it’s original version and say ‘twerkin’?? Who says TwerkING anyway?? but i digress…]

In addition to ‘twerk,’ other commonly used words like “selfie,” “emoji,” and “srsly” have also been added to the Oxford Dictionary as new words.

Are you surprised that ‘twerkING’ has finally gone mainstream?

We’ve been ‘twerkin’ it up for decades and now Miley Cyrus takes all the credit? Interesting…
