Spotted: Outkast’s Andre 3000 Appears In Public as Jimmy Hendrix… [PHOTOS]

Andre 3000 Benjamin?was spotted in Dublin, Ireland on the set of his upcoming Jimi Hendrix film over the weekend (May 28, 2012).

As I revealed a few weeks ago, production of the Hendrix biopic, “All is By My Side,” is a GO and cameras have begun rolling.

Dre fills the legendary rockers shoes as the movie details the years?Hendrix spent in England, from 1966 to 1967, when he put together his debut album,?Are You Experienced.

Three Stacks definitely looks the part and fans are anxiously awaiting the final product, however, the estate of Jimi Hendrix (Experience Hendrix, LLC) isn’t quite on board with the project and may seek to prevent use of any original Hendrix music.

A few weeks ago, Experience Hendrix, LLC (Jimi Hendrix’s estate)?released a statement regarding?the Andre 3000/Jimi Hendrix project, accusing the filmmakers of moving forward with the project without their official permission.

They also noted that producers do not have the right to use any of the guitar legend’s songs.

Various media outlets have recently published accounts that indicate a feature-length Jimi Hendrix biographical film is nearing production.

Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalogue, has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.

Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the EH board have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.

The statement released by the Hendrix estate definitely creates reasonable doubt about the Andre 3000?project moving forward, however the photos prove otherwise.

As for producers of “All is By My Side” being barred from using any of Hendrix’s original music? Well… that’s kinda sketchy at the moment.

Being that the film’s major focus is Hendrix’s first album, all parties need to be on the same page. But since they are moving forward with filming, perhaps?they’re in negotiations.

Whatever the case, filming has official begun…

“All Is By My Side” is written and directed by director/screenwriter John Ridley (this will be his second feature film directorial effort) and the production reportedly will take?about six weeks.

Are you looking forward to seeing Andre 3000’s portrayal of Hendrix?

(Personally… I can’t wait!)
