Cover Shots: Newsweek Names Obama “The First Gay President” [PHOTOS]

It was just last week that Time Magazine featured their controversial breastfeeding cover and now Newsweek attempts to upstage them with the cover of their May 21, 2012 issue.

The cover, which depicts an image of President Barack Obama topped by a rainbow halo, gives America’s first Black president the title of also being ‘The First Gay President’.

Of course we all know that Obama is a straight, married, father of two beautiful daughters, however, the magazine, which hits stands today, is clearly labeling him for shock value.

But did they go too far? Both President Obama and Vice President Biden have both publicly stated that they support Gay marriage.

Just days prior to Obama’s on-air announcement to Robin Roberts, Biden said that he was ‘absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and men and women marrying are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.’

Tina Brown, who edits Newsweek magazine is reportedly known for her love of controversial covers to help boost public interest and sales… well, this one probably did it!

What do you think of Newsweek’s new cover?
