A Tennessee teen is in the news today after her “confederate flag” dress caused her to be banned from her High School Prom.
Texanna Edwards, pictured above in her show stopping dress paired with flip flops, apparently knows how to make an entrance.
Edwards is a senior at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tenn., and when she arrived to prom with a dress featuring a pattern of the Confederate flag, school officials promptly turned Edwards away.
But why?
Daisy Duke Texanna that she could return if she changed her dress but she refused, and says she’s at a loss as to why her dress was considered “offensive and inappropriate.”
And according to Kim Zolciak Texana, all you Black people loved it!
“We kept asking people walking inside — black and white — and everyone said they loved it,” Edwards claims.
“Two black women even went off on the principal. They were upset with the principal. No one was upset with me.”
But contrary to her story, School officials say she had been warned about two months ago that the dress might not be acceptable.
Since there have been race issues at the school in the past, a teacher, who served as prom sponsor, expressed concern and suggested to Edwards in February that she should clear the idea with the principal first, but Edwards failed to do so.
Eddie Pruett, director of schools for the Gibson County Special School District, spoke on behalf of Principal James Hughes, who felt Edwards? dress could have caused a huge problem.
She was told because of the dress and what it would look like, it would be considered inappropriate.
She had talked with the prom sponsor and they told her it would be inappropriate. … I feel like Hughes followed legal precedents set by other court cases. Students have legal rights, and we don?t infringe upon those.
But we have to follow legal precedents, and if there is a reason to believe something could happen, we don?t wait until after the fact to do something. (source)
Edwards claims she told several people about her idea and most liked it. According to her, it was only that one teacher who said the dress was a bad idea.
Personally, I’m more opposed to the flip flops than that “Dukes of Hazzard” dress. And on top of that, I’m almost positive we’ve seen worse dresses online and off.

If y’all can wear air force ones and stars & strips, why can’t Yosemite Sam Texanna rep the confederacy?
Hell… every teen in America has a God given right to express their individuality on Prom Night and in my opinion, Tropicana Texanna should have been no exception.
