The Sanford Police Department took the mugshot above of Zimmerman earlier today, Wednesday April 11, 2012 as he was finally being booked into jail to face charges of 2nd degree murder.

Zimmerman had been in hiding since the incident, which sparked nationwide outrage after the Sanford Police Department released the shooter without charging him with a crime.
According to the Associated Press, Zimmerman turned himself into Sanford authorities and was logged into the jail Wednesday night, hours after a special prosecutor announced the charge against him.
He’s expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
Television cameras showed black SUVs pulling into a loading area, but the suspect himself wasn’t visible.
Zimmerman’s Attorney Mark O’Mara says that his client will plead not guilty. He is currently being held without bond but O’Mara said he plans to ask for bail to be set.
Zimmerman has acknowledged shooting Martin but says it was in self-defense after the two got into a fight on Feb. 26.
It’s about dayum time! Now it’ll be interesting to see what happens IF he makes it to court.
