NBA All-Star Weekend 2012 in Orlando went off pretty much without a hitch… but there was a big commotion at a concert? featuring Young Jeezy Sunday evening (February 26, 2012).
As I arrived on the scene (late as usual) prepared to hit it and quit it but there were firetrucks and ambulances everywhere and police had the entire area blocked off.
Here’s what happened…
Jeezy hit the stage at BB King Blues Club on Sunday evening after the game to a wall to wall crowd.
The venue itself is pretty tight and the stage was filled with Jeezy’s CTE crew. Apparently fans were getting too close to the stage and when security asked them to move back, a few rowdy fans resisted.
There was a small shoving match as tensions grew then someone in the crowd threw a bottle at the stage… (As my tweets above state, I originally heard Jeezy got hit) anywhoo… the entire crowd went wild with Jeezy’s onstage crew fanning the flames by exchanging words with the fans below.
There were bottles thrown and you know those barrier stand thingys that hold the ropes? Well someone picked one of those up and threw it towards the stage… it was followed by a mic stand that flew threw the air towards the crowd.
Fortunately there are no reports of anyone suffering major injuries.
To his credit, Jeezy tried to tried to calm the crowd but it was way too late, it had already gotten way too far out of hand. When that didn’t work, Jeezy and his entourage promptly made an exit through the back door before authorities arrived on the scene.
[Sidebar: I probably should have gotten footage of the chaos I saw on the scene, but I’ll be dayum if I travel all the way to Florida to get a story I can get any day on Bankhead.]
But since someone sold TMZ a clip… here goes:
Dozens of angry fans transformed into a violent mob at a Young Jeezy concert in Orlando this weekend … smashing people with chairs, bottles and even a mic stand … and TMZ has the insane fight footage.
The unfortunate incident didn’t stop Jeezy’s flow tho. He and his crew hit up a few strip clubs and AG’s NBA All-Star finale’ mansion party before heading back to the “A”.
Jeezy’s crew is blaming BB King’s venue for the incident, saying that there wasn’t sufficient security and that the venue should have done a better job controlling the crowd. ? There has been no word from BB King’s club.
