Andre 3000 “Pauses” Outkast Reunion… [THE REAL DEAL]

My boo Antwan “Big Boi” Patton and his homie Andre 3000 Benjamin, aka the legendary duo known OUTKAST, have been toying with fans for years now as we patiently wait for another classic Outkast album.

Dre recently spoke with GQ about his new “Masters of Style” Gillette sponsorship, and of course the unavoidable question regarding an Outkast reunion was asked.

Here’s what Dre had to say about it:

There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There’s a lot of music on the horizon. I’ve been living off the excitement of new artists.

I’ve been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, “Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.” So I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive.

I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don’t know if or when that will happen.

…and then there was one. *sniff*

My interpretation? Dre doesn’t want to be another ‘Dr. Dre’ and have y’all waiting on “The Cronic” forever!

But does that mean no Outkast reunion? *sigh* Here’s the REAL deal (listen up!)

“Outkast” is up in the air right now because, for one… Dre doesn’t want to sign a contract.

As implied in his GQ statement above, Dre has been making mad dough doing features & collaborations and guess what? There’s no label involved taking a bite out of his cheese!

And speaking of Cheese… Cheez, Dre’s BFF, tweeted proof a while ago that Dre & Big were working together…

So clearly it was all good just a month ago…

Dre has still been pursuing acting and he and Big Boi have both been working on solo projects BUT they have also been back the studio TOGETHER… chillin… listening to beats… brainstorming… and RECORDING!

So bump whatcha heard. The two will definitely be collaborating on quite a few things.

As far as Dre’s solo project:

The only thing I can really say is I’m going to get back to having fun because that’s what it was all about when I started this in high school?with OutKast?those were like high school dreams. I’m 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal.

The biggest fear is me thinking about it too much?and that’s why I’m just trying to catch the energy just like I’ve done before. What you all have heard before, I was not thinking, I was just going on cruise control. I was just going at it like any artist.

When you look at the Wayne, when you look at the Kanye… I can tell when an artist is in the zone because they’re not thinking and that’s when you’re at your best. So I’m just hoping, at this point, I don’t let my history get in front of my future. You know what I mean?

We know what you mean Dre. No one wants their best days to be behind them and all I can say to that is ‘keep grinding’ cause the world awaits your genius.

Dre also speaks about reviving his Benjamin Bixby clothing line as well as a few other things you’ll probably want to read.

Outkast fans… keep hope alive!
