“Financially Strapped” Allen Iverson Offered Substantial Amount to Play Football…

Former NBA baller Allen Iverson owes a lot of money to a lot of people.

Iverson bought a huge mansion in Atlanta a few years ago and has been involved in a few small squabbles around town.

AI’s wife filed for divorce in Atlanta last year and has accused him of going on a spending spree, buying hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry, to empty their accounts prior to the final judgment.

While no one knows for sure if Iverson ever got his Lamborghini out of impound, about two weeks ago a judge ordered his wages garnished to pay back the jewelry debt of more than $850,000 but errr ummm…? Iverson has no wages at the moment!

For many of us, that would mean chillin on the sidelines until them folks come knockin’ but for Iverson that means getting another job playing basketball.

Iverson received an offer to play in Puerto Rico a few weeks ago, and ESPN.com said Iverson might agree to spend time in the D-League if it meant a another shot at an NBA job.

And while Baskeball is Iverson’s sport of choice, an indoor soccer league may be the answer to his prayers after extending a “substantial” offer to the NBA legend to play football!

And by “Football” I mean “Soccer”…. 😯

According to a press release dated February 18, 2012, Iverson has an offer to play football soccer for a United States team:

The Rochester Lancers, of the MISL?s top level of pro indoor soccer, today announced a contract offer to former NBA star, Allen Iverson.

The Rochester Lancers host two remaining regular season home games to conclude their season.? The offer stands at $20,000 per game, with a bonus of $5,000 per goal scored, win bonuses, and merchandise bonuses.? There are over 12 goals scored on average per game.

“Allen Iverson is one of the premier athletes of our time,” said Rich Randall, Vice President of the Rochester Lancers.? “With his athleticism and competitive hunger, I think he can be a great fit with our team and fans as we make an important playoff push, while also driving interest to an exciting, growing sport.”

If accepted, the Lancers have also offered to host his friends and family through the duration of his stay.? With the per-game pay and bonuses, this offer will come close to the offer (per game) set by Turkish basketball team, Besiktas and ultimately keeping him the United States.

The Rochester Lancers are a franchise of the Major Indoor Soccer League, the highest level of professional indoor soccer.? Lancers games are played at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY.? The Lancers name derives from the original NASL Lancers team that played host to players such as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, George Best and Carlos Metidieri.
