Twitter Fail: Teen Sent 144 Tweets Before Committing Suicide & No One Helped…

A distraught 18 year old high school student with at least 500 TWITTER followers took her life AFTER she sent a series of shocking messages on the popular social network.

Over the course of six hours, Ashley Billasano took to her twitter page and posted 144 messages expressing pain and grief prior to taking her own life.

“It’s obvious she needed somebody to talk to and that’s what I believe those tweets were,” said Chief Craig Brady with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department.

“She was trying to communicate and trying to get people to talk to her.”

Sad thing is… none of Ashley’s 500 TWITTER “friends” lifted a finger to call authorities to warn them that she may be about to hurt herself… NOT ONE!

Details…

In the disturbing messages, the pretty 18-year-old revealed she had been molested by a family member and forced into prostitution.? She also detailed her unsuccessful attempt at seeking justice.

Billasano’s mother, Tiffany Ruiz Leskinen, said that being denied help from authorities was too much for her daughter to cope with.

“The detective told her that she had trouble believing her,” her mother told the Houston Chronicle.

“Here is someone who has been abused and is forced to be silent for so long. Then the one person you go to looking for help says they might not believe you. The CPS caseworker was a rookie right out of college. She did not know anything and kept saying she had check with her supervisor.”

According to the report, a spokesman for Texas Child Protective Services said privacy policies keep the agency from confirming if an investigation followed Billasano’s claims.

Ashley tweeted about her disappointment when her allegations of sexual abuse weren’t taken seriously. The decision not to indict her alleged molester after an investigation had a profound impact on her. She tweeted:

“Weeks passed, then I got the call. They said sorry but there isn’t enough evidence I hung up.”

“That’s when I changed I didn’t care anymore and the people I was meeting gave me no reason to.”

On November 7th, Ashley had had enough.? The following messages where the final messages sent by the teen and within hours, the young girl was gone.

Billasano reportedly killed herself via suffocation. Her twitter page has since been taken offline but many are questioning why NONE of her 500 followers chose to help the emotional teen.

Authorities investigating the case say that the people reading Billasano’s suicidal tweets were not legally bound to report any impending suicide, but weren’t they MORALLY bound?

What would you do if one of your online “friends” sent suicidal tweets?
