Rick Ross Blames Sleep Deprivation For Seizures… [VIDEO]

Rick Ross (my “Big Poppa” in my head) has finally spoken publicly about the health scare that had rumors of his death circulating the internet.

Rozay was hospitalized a few weeks ago after suffering two seizures within hours of each other, and explained in a recent interview that it may have been his hustlin mentality that’s to blame.

My personal mantra has always been “You sleep, we grind”…. well apparently in Ricky’s case, it was that lack of sleep that may have lead to serious health consequences.

Ross opened up on BET’s “106 & Park” yesterday, discussing, for the first time, the two seizures he suffered on that October 14th flight to Memphis.

“I felt a little wore out, but I felt that I could keep going and that’s what it was. I boarded a jet and I had ANOTHER seizure.? And when I snapped out of that one, I woke up in front of a doctor, who asked me, basically, ‘when was the last time you slept 8 hours’… and I said ‘man it had to be at least 5 years’…

Being the fastest growing label in the game comes with a lot of sacrifices and in my case it was SLEEP. I would get 2 hours of sleep and keep moving.? And that has? to stop…

It was a case of me not having enough rest… not getting enough sleep… and I had to fix that.

According to the Huffington Post, sleep could have very well been a factor, especially if Rick has been diagnosed with epilepsy.

“Sleep activates the electrical charges in the brain that result in seizures and seizures are timed according to the sleep wake cycle. For some people, seizures occur exclusively during sleep. This is especially true for a particular type of epilepsy known as benign focal epilepsy of childhood, also known as Rolandic epilepsy.

When seizures occur during sleep, they may cause awakenings that are sometimes confused with insomnia. Epilepsy patients are often unaware of the seizures that occur while they sleep. They may suffer for years from daytime fatigue and concentration problems without ever knowing why. For people with epilepsy, sleep problems are a double-edged sword; epilepsy disturbs sleep and sleep deprivation aggravates epilepsy.

I’m glad Rick realizes that he has to slow down and take care of himself.

Have YOU been getting your 8 hours?

Lord knows I haven’t!

It’s time for a change…
