My heart is heavy right now as I report that Rick Ross suffered a SECOND seizure on his way to Memphis, Tennessee to perform tonight at the FED Ex arena.
Ross suffered a seizure this morning on a jet traveling from Ft. Lauderdale to Memphis that had to be diverted due to the seriousness of his condition.
He went to the hospital, and it was reported that he had to have CPR performed.
Rick was released from the hospital and posted a video swearing that he was well enough to still perform tonight in Memphis for his waiting fans.
Ross boarded a private jet that took off at 5:07 PM ET from Ft. Lauderdale to make tonight’s concert in Memphis. But at 5:44 PM CDT, the plane was diverted and landed in Birmingham after Rick had ANOTHER seizure while on board.
According to TMZ, he is currently in a Birmingham hospital emergency room and word is that he is once again in stable condition
Rick was supposed to be on stage in Memphis at 7:30 PM ET.
Please keep Ross in your prayers for a speedy recovery.
UPDATE 1 10/15/11 – 12:00pm: No word on if Rick has been released from the Birmingham hospital he was taken to after his 2nd seizure, but TMZ is reporting that he’s still trying to perform tonight.
Ross is slated to perform at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina as part of homecoming at North Carolina A&T State University.
According to an employee at the venue, Ross’ people called the venue this morning to confirm that he is doing better and will be on stage as planned tonight.
Dayum Rick! Slow yo roll…. SMH! A hustler never rests but I guess that’s why he’s successful.
UPDATE 2 – 10/15/11 10:11pm: The show did NOT go on…
Rick Ross will NOT take the stage tonight in North Carolina after his Friday night health scare left him hospitalized twice for seizures.
A rep for the Greensboro Coliseum, where Ross was scheduled to perform, had previously told TMZ they had been contacted by Ross’ people and told he would be there.
But when TMZ called the arena again around 6:50 PM ET, the deputy director of the Coliseum said Ross would no longer be performing. He would not elaborate.
Reps for Ross have not gotten back to us for comment.
I’m still praying for him though.
