Sean Garrett BOMBS at ATL Live On The Park + An Open Letter? [PHOTOS]

The Atlanta music series ATL Live on the Park was held last night at Park Tavern and if you FOLLOW ME on Twitter, you may have noticed my series of #awkwardmoment tweets…

You’ve probably never seen a “Sean Garrett” post on SFTA and I wasn’t going to do one this time.

That is… until Gyant used my “Awkward Moment” tweets as inspiration for an open letter to Garrett…. and well, I couldn’t have said it better myself. *sigh*

Dear Sean Garrett,

How are you sir? I trust all is well. Listen, I find it time we have an honest and open conversation about your career. I have noticed you pushing hard to become a solo act for the past 3-4 years. But, it?s seems to be going into hyper drive these past twelve months.

Your determination is admirable. But, I think it?s time we have a real conversation. Be prepared. I am probably going to say things to you that?s going to sting deeply. However, trust me when I tell you that it?s coming from a place of love. While your song writing skills are epic to say the least, it is imperative that you understand that a record versus a true star are two separate things entirely.

For years the world has been blasting your music ?mostly unaware that ?The Pen? was its father. And I know that irritates you to know end. I understand that a man?s ego is so fragile that the slightest non-acknowledgement can cause a ripple effect. I get that ? I truly do. But, it?s high time you get the message/memo on a few things so that you ? and all of us? can move one with our lives. MORE

Gyant goes on to detail why some people are just better BEHIND the scenes and I’m in total agreement.

Seriously… in my opinion, not everyone who writes great songs should be an artist. [*cough* Keri Hilson ]

While it may be a hard pill to swallow. Trust… it’s ok. We can all give you props and accolades for being an awesome PEN but please don’t continue to try to force us to accept you as a STAR.
