Rumor Control: Authorities Say Wyclef Jean Was NOT Shot in Haiti…

News spread quickly over the weekend that Wyclef Jean had been shot in the hand while assisting in the Haitian presidential campaign.

Joe Mignon, senior program director for Jean?s Yele Foundation, says Jean was shot in the hand after 11 p.m. Saturday March 19, 2011 in the city of Delmas, just outside Port-au-Prince. The shooting happened in the Delmas section of the capital, Port-au-Prince, after 11 p.m. said Joe Mignon, senior program director for Jean?s Yele Foundation.

Jean was treated at a hospital and later released.

In case you’re wondering why the former Fugee was released from the hospital so quickly… Well it may be because that “bullet” was actually just a piece of flying glass… *sigh*

Cops say baloney, he only suffered a minor cut to his hand from glass in an apparent accident.
