A Kentucky woman hit the jackpot in Mega Millions recently and it’s all due to a mistake made by the cashier who sold her ticket!
Pamela Ivey (pictured below) quadrupled her prize winnings after the clerk accidentally added a feature to her lottery ticket purchase that she didn’t ask for, said officials with the Kentucky Lottery.
When Ivey, 42, purchased her Mega Millions ticket for the $380 million Jan. 4 drawing, she expected to only pay $5.? However, once the clerk rung her up her bill totaled $10.? Apparently the “Megaplier” feature had been accidentally added to her purchase.
“I glanced at her name tag and it said ‘Susan’ and I thought, ‘Oh Susan, don’t do that to me,'” Ivey said.
Ivey said she put her ticket aside and didn?t check it until Thursday morning, two days after the drawing,
?I dropped to my knees and praised God,? she said after finding out she was a millionaire.
The Scott County resident walked out of lottery headquarters with a check for $690,000 after taxes.
She purchased her Mega Millions with Megaplier quick pick ticket at Apple Market Convenience store in Georgetown. The store will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
I think she should give that clerk a big huge tip!!!
FYI ~ The 2nd half of the Mega Millions prize has been claimed by a young woman located in northern Idaho. She wants to remain anonymous for now.
