Ne-Yo is Disturbed By Poor Album Sales but Proud to be a Daddy?

Singer/songwriter Ne-yo is fuming that his latest new album ?Libra Scale? only reach #8 on the charts after selling a measly 117k copies in its first week.

Neyo blames piracy on the album’s lackluster sales, in addition to people not feeling his “vision.” So what does he do about it? He hits up his twitter account to b*tch and moan to his 465,000+ followers…

I LOVE those that love me and love my art. They let me know that tho my vision sometimes isn’t for everyone, those that get it GET IT….

I love the fact that some people understand my music and some don’t. It let’s me know that tho individuality is fleeting, it still exists…

I love that there are people that sing better, dance better, make more money, sell more albums…it gives me new goals to reach…

The beauty of being an artist is expansion and growth. But understanding that not everyone is gonna like it, is part of that growth….

You can’t do TRUE art with the intention of pleasing everyone, a hard lesson learned for me. True art touches those it’s MEANT to touch….

So if this album doesn’t do as well as my others, it’s not a failure or a loss. It’s art for those who get it and opportunity to grow…

To those that love LIBRA SCALE, thank you for your love. To those that don’t, thank you for your opinion.

The backlash from Ne-yo’s tweets prompted him to explain why he was so salty. He discusses his intentions in a recent interview:

?I was a little disturbed by my first week numbers, but a lot of things went into that first week number? the album getting leaked a month in advance definitely had something to do with it.

That was another situation where I jumped on my soapbox (twitter) and let the world know how I felt about that. You know it?s the world we live in today, it?s the game. You either play the game or you get out. I?m not gonna let the ignorance of some stop me from doing what I feel like I was put on this earth to do?

Ne-yo, who became the proud father? on November 12, 2010 to a baby girl named Madilyn Grace Smith, also spoke about becoming a new dad:

Fatherhood is scary as hell but it?s the most enjoyable fear that I?ve ever experienced. Its love like I?ve never felt before. I?ve been in love with a woman before, I know what that is. I?ve been in love with music before I know what that is. I?ve never experienced love like this, its instant from the second I laid eyes on her.

I would do anything to make sure she never hurts or needs for anything in life and I?ve never felt that before. It?s special at the same time it?s scary. You know I don?t got to tell y?all that the world we live in today is not the most positive place all the time so just thinking about the different things that I?m going to have to teach her, hoping that I teach her well that?s the scary part?but its gonna be fun. I?m gonna enjoy myself.
