Usher Raymond & Alicia Keys Get “Caught Up” In A Lawsuit…

R&B singers Usher Raymond and Alicia Keys are “caught up”…so to speak. The two are listed as defendants in a lawsuit filed by an aspiring songwriter, that accuses them of stealing Raymond?s 2004 hit ?Caught Up?.

According to AllHipHop,? Wadena Pyatt, filed a lawsuit in New York?s Eastern District Court claiming that ?Caught Up? is a plagiarized version of a song she wrote for Alicia Keys in 2002. During that time, Pyatt was an artist on MBK Entertainment, a record label co-owned by Keys and her business partner Jeff Robinson.

According to Pyatt’s lawsuit, she signed a record deal in 2003 and planned to use the track on her own debut release, but was disappointed when she found out the tune was contained on Usher’s hit album Confessions.

Raymond?s ?Caught Up? peaked at No. 21 on Billboard?s Pop Singles chart but credits songwriters Ryan Toby, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis and Jason Boyd.? Keys doesn’t appear on the song, but she and Raymond have collaborated, most notably on the No. 1 single ?My Boo.? [VIDEO]

Pyatt is suing for undisclosed damages.

Raymond took home two trophies Sunday night at the American Music Awards, picking up wins for favorite male soul/R&B artist and favorite soul/R&B album for “Raymond vs. Raymond.”
