A billboard near highway I75/85 in Atlanta reads, “Love Like Him, Live Like Him, Lead Like Him” The motto refers to Jesus Christ, but the smiling face next to it is that of Bishop Eddie Long in one of his signature tight shirts.
Members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church take the billboard (and their “Bishop”) very seriously but others feel that in light of? Bishop Eddie Long’s Sex Scandal, the billboard and it’s subliminal message is a bit much…
The billboard, located on University Avenue near the I75/I85 connector, has been there since around April of this year. But the recent allegations against the Bishop have drivers taking a double take at the image and the massage, which implies that you should Love, Live & Lead… like Bishop Long.
New Birth Missionary Baptist Church adopted the slogan “Love like Him, Live like Him, Lead like Him” back in March 2010 and it refers to Jesus Christ. However, the larger than life image of a smiling Bishop Long draws skepticism of the “true” message.
No one should put their faith in one man and this is what the billboard implies in my opinion. WSB-TV spoke with spectators who were spotted taking pictures of the controversial billboard and most agreed with my assessment, with some going so far as to call for the billboard’s removal.
