Lyfe Jennings Headed Back to Prison for 3 1/2 Years…

R&B singer Lyfe Jennings, born Chester Bamsu Jennings, has been convicted of criminal trespassing, discharging a weapon near a street, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and is headed back to the clink.

According to online reports, Lyfe is now heading to jail for three years. The artist was due to perform in Seattle on Tuesday, but the show was abruptly canceled before Jennings was sentenced to three and a half years in Atlanta earlier today (Wednesday, September 22).

The sentence stems from an altercation Jennings had with the mother of his child back in 2008, which spawned THIS bloody mugshot.

The singer kicked down the door of his baby mom Joy Pound’s house and later fired a gun outside. He then fled the scene in his red 2005 Corvette but was caught after a high-speed chase that ended when the singer smashed the vehicle.

Jennings was handed misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass, discharging a firearm near a public highway and refusal to take a DUI test, in addition to two felony counts of attempting to elude an officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lyfe sent a final message to his fans earlier today:

This will be my last post. To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt. I have had a fabulous career because of you. All I can say in parting is that I have been honest with yaw. I didn’t sugarcoat a word didn’t hold back a single sylible of my life from yaw.

I’ve lived a hundred lives in these 6 yrs so I not only won’t, i don’t have the right to complain. I would like to think that I’ve changed lives by changing my own, tho I can’t be sure. But one thing I am sure of is God gives and takes away in measure. He is fair, just and forever. Amen from aman… Smile, its contageous:)

He had already informed fans that his fourth album, I Still Believe, would be his last. Whether he meant it or not, the prison sentence handed down today means another one won’t be coming for awhile.

Before his music career took off, Lyfe spent 10 years in prison for arson. The title of his debut studio album, Lyfe 268-192, referred to his prison ID number.

Another one bites the dust. Who’s next up for the clink. Let’s start a pool…
