I spotted LL Cool J backstage after his performance during the 2010 Essence festival and was almost too busy drooling over his pecs to ask anything pertinent.? I did manage to get a drop though:
How old is LL now anyway? Like 50? No wait. I think he’s 42-ish. Whatever his “true” age, LL hasn’t aged a bit! Makes you wonder if all those plastic surgery rumors are true.
Anywhoo… in his press conference LL said he’s been busy getting his acting on in the police drama NCIS, but says he really enjoys performing and wants to return to music.
I?m starting to think about it and I am going to do it. The key for me is that when I do it, it has to be really important and it has to be something original. It can?t be me trying to sound like what?s acceptable because this is what is played on the radio today because that is so tired and boring and no one really cares about it.
But don’t hold your breath waiting on his new CD! LL says he needs to be totally satisfied with his new songs and won’t be releasing any garbage!? He’s willing to make his fans wait as long as it takes and is confident the music world will be impressed when he finally does release something fresh and different.
It has to be something with some substance and some depth. Until I can create that kind of record I?m not putting anything out. I don?t care how many years it takes.
Doesn’t matter to me anyway. I just want to look at him not hear him…
