Teacher Fired for Getting Knocked Up Prior to Her Wedding… [VIDEO]

A forth grade teacher was fired from her job at a Christian academy after admitting to her supervisor that her child was conceived prior to her wedding date!

Jarretta Hamilton and her husband of 16 months, Samuel Treftz explained to TODAY show’s Ann Curry that her problems all occurred as a result of her being honest.

Hamilton, a widow with five children from her first marriage, had gotten work as a teacher at Southland Christian School in January 2008. Meanwhile, she also met Treftz, and they planned a Feb. 20, 2009, wedding.? Three weeks prior to her wedding, she conceived her daughter, Sarah.

When asked about the discrepancy between her wedding date and the due date, Hamilton responded honestly and a week later was fired from her job.

In a letter addressed to her attorney, the school admits she was fired for “fornication & sex outside of marriage”:

Jarretta was asked not to return because of a moral issue that was disregarded, namely fornication, sex outside of marriage. The employment application, which she filled out, clearly states that as a leader before our students we require all teachers to maintain and communicate the values and purpose of our school.?

Hamilton and her new husband say that her termination violated federal anti-discrimination laws. In addition, they allege in a pending lawsuit, that the school?s principal, Jon Ennis, invaded Hamilton?s privacy by telling other teachers and the parents of her students the exact reason she was fired.

The school didn’t appear on the TODAY show but sent a letter, which ended in the following statement:

We request that Jarretta withdraw her complaint and consider the testimony of the Lord.

All I know is… there would be no teachers employed ANYWHERE if this was the norm!? I’m totally rooting for Jaretta and hope she takes this case as far as it can go.? These people are self-righteous zealots who deserve to be sued for all they’ve got.

Seriously… who are they to judge?? Somebody needs to get a bit more familiar with the good book…
