Child Star Gary Coleman Hospitalized in Critical Condition

Actor Gary Coleman is hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

The 42 year old star of 80’s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes has been plagued with years of health problems and was admitted to the surgical ICU unit at a Provo, Utah, hospital Wednesday afternoon.

E! News reports that Gary was being treated at the hospital after suffering a head injury from a fall, although other sources say that his illness is undisclosed.

Janet Frank, the spokeswoman for Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, confirmed that Coleman was being treated there after being admitted on Wednesday.

Coleman’s Utah lawyer, Randy Kester, said he had communicated by text message with Coleman’s wife, Shannon Price, and that the family did not want to release any additional details at this time. “Anything they could say would be premature because they don’t know the full extent of his condition right now,” Kester said.

Price and her father released a statement Thursday to KUTV-TV saying Coleman was taken to the hospital with “a serious medical problem.” The statement asks for prayers, adding: “We hope those prayers are answered and that Gary will be able to recover and return home soon.” (Source)

The former child actor was hospitalized briefly three months ago after suffering a seizure while being interviewed on a TV show in Los Angeles, California.
