Percy “Lil Romeo” Miller has been officially cut from USC’s college basketball team. If you care…
Miller, who is the son of rap mogul Master P, is being booted from the squad at the end of his sophomore season after playing in only nine games in two seasons, logging a total of 19 minutes. Romeo at least score a few points in those two years (five) and recorded three rebounds and an assist.
Not much play time for someone with a basketball scholarship, hence the schools decision to transfer those funds to someone who could better benefit the squad.
The USC basketball program under the direction of head coach?Kevin O?Neill?has undergone several changes since the end of the 2009-10 season and the following is a brief recap of the activites.?USC signed transfers 6-6 forward Aaron Fuller (Iowa) and 7-0 center Dwayne Dedmon (Antelope Valley College), both who will sit out the 2010-11 season. In addition, forward?Leonard Washington?was dismissed from the team, center?Davis Rozitis?has decided to transfer and guard?Percy Miller?has left the team.?
The big controversy originally came over Lil Romeo’s USC basketball recruitment. It’s been speculated that the coach at the time, Tim Floyd, added him to the team as a package deal with Romeo’s best friend.
A Wall Street Journal report claimed Floyd spoke to Master P on the phone as he was driving Romeo and Rozan from a high school tournament in Arkansas and during that conversation P negotiated the deal of a full scholarship for both as a package, with Floyd reportedly agreeing to it saying “absolutely”.
The 6-7, 220lb Rozan now plays in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors and Romeo? Well… I guess this leaves him more free time to rap and/or market his reality show…
