Lil Wayne was scheduled to report to jail today, but has been granted at least one more day of freedom. The embattled rapper’s jail time has been postponed due to a fire in the basement of the Manhattan courthouse where his hearing was scheduled.
According to Rap Radar,
A fire today has closed the Manhattan Criminal Court building for the remainder of the day. The spark was started in the basement of the facility with smoke traveling to the lobby. Wayne was scheduled to report there in order to begin his year long jail sentence in Rikers. They don?t call him the Fireman for nothin?.
Wayne is scheduled to return to court tomorrow but it seems fate is on his side. He’s also apparently resolved to the fact that he’s going in and wished his twitter followers a final goodbye a few hours ago.
