Moms of Lil Wayne, T-Pain & Ne-Yo Win Humanitarian Award

You may remember the Hip-Hop Mom’s from my post last year. Aliyah Najm (T-Pain?s mom), Jacida Carter (Lil? Wayne?s mom) and H. Loraine Smith (Ne-Yo?s mom) collectively known as? “The Hip Hop Moms” are out winning awards and preparing for their reality show debut.

The three phenomenal women are more than just mothers of superstars, they’re becoming celebs in their own right. I just got word that the moms will be receiving a “humanitarian” award? next week:

?We are honored to receive the humanitarian award. We appreciate being acknowledged for our efforts towards making our corner of the world a little better. We believe that all of us have something to contribute to the betterment of our community. We chose to use education and empowerment as our vehicle towards that end, ? says Loraine Smith, mother of Grammy-award winning artist Ne-Yo and one of the co-hosts of Dinner Table Discussions receiving the award.

?It is amazing and gratifying to be recognized by your peers for attempting to accomplish the same goals. Bringing families together is the first step in making our communities better. Let?s continue to strive for the goal of a richer more empowered community.?

The Hip-Hop Moms will receive the humanitarian award in music and television at the first annual ?Queens in our Communities? celebration on March 7, 2010 and are apparently the first to receive the award.

I’m still tryna figure out how they won or who they were up against but it’s a good look for them nonetheless…

The celebrity moms still plan to kick off their talk show, Dinner Table Discussions sometime later this year.
